Paratransit
Your appointment ended early. Does the paratransit pickup move too?
Keep the confirmed return trip unless the program approves a change, and use the official same-day channel to ask about available options.

Finishing an appointment early does not automatically move a paratransit return pickup. The vehicle may be serving other riders, and the confirmed trip remains tied to the program's schedule until an authorized change is made. A rider should keep the reservation details and use the program's official same-day process instead of relying on a clinic desk or an informal message.
Start with the confirmed return trip
Keep the reservation number, pickup location, scheduled or offered time, pickup window, destination, and rider contact number together. Confirm whether the return was booked for a specific pickup time or activated through another approved process.
Do not cancel the confirmed trip simply because the appointment ended early unless the rider has another safe, confirmed way home. Canceling first can remove the only transportation arrangement.
Use the program's same-day contact process
Call or use the official same-day channel listed by the paratransit program. Explain that the rider is ready early and ask what options are available. Availability, pickup windows, and change rules differ by program.
MTA Access-A-Ride has published that customers can use its current tools to cancel a trip for today or request a later pickup time for today. That does not guarantee an earlier vehicle, so riders should follow the current instructions given by AAR.

Unless the program confirms a new meeting point or time, remain reachable and follow the original pickup instructions. Moving to another entrance can make the rider harder to locate even if the building address stays the same.
Tell the clinic or destination contact which entrance is being used and whether the rider needs a safe indoor waiting place.
- Reservation and trip details.
- Original pickup window.
- Official same-day contact channel.
- Confirmed new instructions, if any.
Record the outcome clearly
Write down the time of the request, the instruction received, and any new pickup details. A companion should share the same information rather than making a second, conflicting request.
If the appointment regularly ends much earlier or later than planned, review the standing schedule or future reservations through the program's normal advance-booking process. Repeated same-day changes are a sign that the original return plan may need revision.
